"Gram's Kitchen" opened on December 15th, 1987 on Highway 44 in DeLand. Greg Hanson, the owner, had the idea for his restaurant from restaurants owned by his grandmother, Laveral Brooks... Grandma Brooks owned three restaurants in Michigan from the 1950's thru the 1970's: "The Red Flannel" in Cedar Springs; "The Boones Burrow" and "The Fifth Wheel", both in Sand Lake. "The Boones Burrow" and "The Red Flannel" were very similar to "Gram's Kitchen". Everyone in the area knew Grandma Brooks as "Gram". In tribute to her and her love for her family, Greg decided to name his restaurants "Gram's Kitchen" and it is his intention that the friendly and familiar atmosphere of Gram's Michigan restaurants, live on in the "Gram's Kitchens" in Florida. Thank-you for your patronage. Greg, Vicki & Lucas
